I work principally as a birding and ecotourism guide, nationally and internationally in Brazil and Ecuador with Tropical Birding, and locally in southern Amazonia in the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso and Pará.
Though I specialize in the Amazon, I guide throughout Brazil and can advise on or put together birding trips to the Pantanal, the Atlantic rainforests of the south-east, the extreme south, and also the endemic-rich northeast.

Feel free to contact me at the above addresses if you are interested in a custom or fixed date birdwatching tour, for individuals or groups, in Brazil or beyond. If you have any questions regarding the information available on this website, or simply want to know more about birding in Mato Grosso or Brazil, please send me an e-mail.

About the region:

The Brazilian states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins form the area known as Legal Amazônia, a region considered various protections and economic incentives by the federal government.

The extreme northern region of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, and the southern part of the state of Pará are together known as the 'território portal da Amazônia', or the gateway to Amazonia. It is in this region, specifically the town of Alta Floresta (the regional economic centre), where I am based.
The municipalities of Alta Floresta, Paranaita, Apiacás, Nova Bandeirantes, Jacareacanga and Novo Progresso annually rank amongst the highest rates of absolute and relative deforestation in the country. This ongoing destruction has won the region fame as home to the 'arc of deforestation'.
