Birding Mato Grosso

Birding Mato Grosso specializes in providing customized birding and natural history tours to Brazil, with a special emphasis on the Amazon rainforest and the cerrado savannas of the Brazilian Interior. We are committed to delivering quality tours based on the preferences of our clients.

Birding Mato Grosso was founded in 2008 as an instrument to facilitate birdwatching tourism to the state of Mato Grosso in central-west Brazil. The original goal was to create a website which compiled birdfinding information valuable to the visiting birder. Information aimed at independent travelers, in addition to profiles of birding sites and interesting lodges - both famous and unknowns - was the original content.

However, It wasn't long before we started to receive requests from visiting birders for guided tours to the Amazon, Pantanal, and Cerrado regions of Mato Grosso. As our experience started to grow, so too did the scope of our trips. We have organized and led customized and set departure tours to 20 Brazilian states covering all major biomes of the country, and while a large part of our business is still centred in Mato Grosso, we run trips annually to the Atlantic forests of South-east Brazil, the cerrados of central Brazil, the highlands and pampas of the Brazilian south, and all across the vast Amazon basin.

Our clients come from all parts of the world and all walks of life, and we consider ourselves fortunate to be in a position to make dreams come true, organizing and leading customized birdwatching, natural history, and wildlife photography trips to all compass points of this vast country, cloaked as it is in such a rich biodiversity. No two trips are ever the same, and we take great pride in the fact that we have already hosted many returning customers within the few years that Birding Mato Grosso has existed. In our view, there is no greater testimonial to the quality of our tours than that fact.

Please enjoy our website, check out the photos, read the trip reports, 'like' our Facebook page, and please feel free to send us an email if there is anything we can possibly do to help you: if you are planning to travel to Brazil, have any doubts about the country, would like advice on where to go or where to stay, or if you'd like to inquire about a customized tour, we'll be happy to help as best we can!
